Agricultural Development

The need in Africa is real and it effects every area of life. By working alongside local farmers in Malawi to correct agricultural inefficiencies and provide agricultural education opportunities to rural communities a change is coming.

Agricultural stability will not only help solve hunger and famine but a successful agricultural venture will provide families with socioeconomic stability and access to healthcare and education. Agricultural aid provides an opportunity for development not charity. Seventy percent of Africans make their living in the agricultural industry however agriculture only accounts for thirty three percent of the continents GDP.  Higher agricultural productivity and more efficient markets for agricultural products reduce food prices, thereby enabling access to food for the poorest rural and urban dwellers. However it is becoming increasingly obvious Africa will be unable to achieve food security unless it succeeds in drastically reducing the poverty level undermining its production capacity and its food and nutritional security.

The Facts
  • 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That's about one in nine people on earth.

  • Poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under five.

  • About 3.1 million children every year die because of poor nutrition.

  • One out of six children in developing  countries are underweight.

  • Sixty-six million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone.

  • Every 10 seconds, a child dies from a hunger related diseases.
